The Feel
Before you see it, you feel it.

Plum silk with real depth — reads black from far, deep purple up close. The gharara has real weight from the aara (the knee-band of zardozi), which forces the fabric to fall in a real bell shape below the knee.

The Karigari
What the hand does.
  • Zardozi worked in antique matte gold on the yoke, front and back, and along the entire knee-tier of the gharara.
  • Gota patti (flat gold ribbon) as a border along the hem and dupatta edge — cut and appliquéd by hand.
  • The aara (knee-tier) is a full 6-inch band of solid zardozi — the piece that makes this a gharara and not a palazzo.
Care
How she stays herself.
  • Store the gharara flat, folded once at the aara only.
  • Dry clean by hand only.
  • Rest between wears for 48 hours — the zardozi needs to settle back into the silk.

Wear it with

Big polki jhumkis, a matha patti, and a thick gold kaleerey stack if you're the bride. Wear it with sharara juttis in matching plum or antique gold. This is a movement suit — meant to spin at the sangeet.

Why this one

"The suit that says the mehndi has begun. Plum photographs deeper on camera than in life — it looks black under bulbs and comes alive under mehndi flames."

Common Questions

About this suit

What silhouette is Jamun?

Jamun is a Punjabi gharara — two flared trousers with a heavy embroidered knee-band (aara), paired with a short embroidered kurti and a soft dupatta. The aara is what makes a gharara a gharara.

Is Jamun a bridal gharara?

Yes. Jamun is cut for the Sangeet, Mehndi, and Reception hours — but with a heavier zardozi aara she can also carry a bride through her Anand Karaj if she prefers a gharara to a lehenga.

How much fabric is in Jamun?

Five to seven metres of plum silk per leg, plus two to three metres for the kurti and three to four metres for the dupatta. Between fifteen and twenty metres in total.

What is the embroidery on Jamun?

Hand zardozi with gota patti on the aara (knee-band), the kurti neckline, and the dupatta border. Total karigari hours: 220 to 280 per suit.

What is the price of Jamun?

Price on request. Aara density and colour depth are chosen with you before we begin.

How is Jamun sized?

Every Jamun is made to measure. On the first WhatsApp call we walk you through the twelve measurements we take — kurta, sleeve, chest, waist, hip, bottom length, and bottom seat, plus dupatta preference. We fit bust 32"–46" and heights 5'0"–5'10" comfortably; for sizes outside this range, we welcome the conversation.

Can Jamun be shipped internationally?

Ji, Jamun is shipped duties-paid to Canada, USA, UK, UAE, Australia, and across India. Bridal density adds insured shipping, tracked door-to-door, with signature on delivery.

What is the timeline for Jamun?

6 weeks from confirmed measurements for the standard commission. 12–14 weeks if worked in full bridal density (adds another aara at the ankle)
