- Real cowrie shells (kaudi), sourced from the Gujarat coast, hand-stitched around the kameez neckline, cuffs, hem and both dupatta borders — one shell every 25 mm.
- The kohl dye is a natural iron-oxide mordant dye — you can see it deepen slightly over the first wash. This is intentional.
- Dry clean by hand only — never machine dry-clean. The cowrie shells can crack under press.
- Store folded once, cowrie border facing outward.
- Rest for 24 hours between wears — silk crepe needs to breathe.

Wear it with a single line of small pearls or a black-cord tazviz pendant, matte silver jhumkis, no polki. This suit prefers understatement — the cowries do the talking. Juttis in cowrie-white or black.

Kaudi is a Punjabi sharara — two flared trousers opening from the hip in one continuous line (no knee-band), paired with a short embroidered kurti and a soft dupatta.
How is Kaudi different from a gharara?
A gharara has a heavy embroidered knee-band (aara). Kaudi is a sharara — she flares from the hip in one clean line. Lighter to wear, easier to walk in, more modern.
Is Kaudi bridal?
Kaudi is cut for the Cocktail and Reception hours. She works beautifully as a lighter alternative to a bridal gharara for the Roka or Chunni Chadhai.
